Find a safe place to pull over & put on your hazards
Make sure you pull over on a flat surface, turn off your car and apply your handbrake.
Get the jack, wrench & spare tyre from your boot
Before you leave for your trip, make sure you have these, otherwise, you will be really stuck!
Display your warning triangle
The warning triangle should be displayed at least 45m from your vehicle to warn approaching traffic.
Loosen up the lug nuts using the wrench
At this point, you will loosen the lugs but don’t remove them.
Consult the car manual for correct placement of jack
The allocated area for jack placement varies depending on car model and type etc. Double check your car manual before placing your jack.
Start lifting the vehicle off the ground using the jack
You will want to lift the car high enough so that the replacement tyre will be able to be fitted.
Remove the lugs and pull the tyre off
Loosen the lugs further so they can be removed and pull off the damaged tyre.
Place on the spare tyre & tighten the lugs but not completely
Line up the lug nut posts with the holes in the spare, and push the spare into place.
Lower car to the ground & tighten the lug nuts completely
Carefully lower the car to the ground and tighten the lugs as much as possible.
Pack the damaged tyre and equipment all back into the boot
And just like that, you are ready to get back on the road!
